2025 AUDIE FINALIST: ORIGINAL WORK

Two Can Play by Ali Hazelwood

An enemies-to-lovers spicy romance set in the world of video gaming from the bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis—available only in audio!

Viola Bowen has the chance of a lifetime: to design a video game based on her all-time favorite book series. The only problem? Her co-lead is Jesse F-ing Andrews, a.k.a. her arch-nemesis. Jesse has made it abundantly clear over the years that he wants nothing to do with her–and Viola has no idea why.

When their bosses insist a wintery retreat is the perfect team-building exercise, Viola can’t think of anything worse. Being freezing cold in a remote mountain lodge knowing Jesse is right next door? No, thank you.

But as the snow piles on, Viola discovers there’s more to Jesse than she knew, and heat builds in more ways than one.

2024 AUDIE FINALIST: Romance

French Holiday by Sarah Ready

One (crumbling) French castle. Two enemies-at-first-sight. The holiday of a lifetime. Merry DeLuca has a problem—a big problem. Her sister just married her best friend and the only man she’s ever loved. Her life is rapidly spiraling down the drain, and she doesn’t have an escape plan. So when Merry is offered a three-month holiday living in a romantic castle in the French countryside, she leaps at the chance. Merry knows her French holiday will fix everything—there will be mouthwatering pastries, delicious (meaningless) flirtations, and languid strolls through vineyards at sunset. Her holiday will be perfect. At least, Merry believes that until she arrives and finds Noah Wright—the best man at her sister’s wedding and the worst man she’s ever known—staying in her castle. Famous travel documentarian by day and arrogant devil by night, Noah refuses to leave the castle. Which means that Merry and Noah are stuck together in France, in a crumbling castle, in a holiday where nothing goes right. Not for Merry, and not for Noah. So they strike a truce—they’ll live as cohabitating friends for three-months, and then they’ll amicably part ways, never to see each other again. But the thing about friendship? Sometimes, secrets are uncovered. Mysteries revealed. Hearts laid bare. And friendship can start to feel a lot like caring. A lot like love. It can even make you wish that the holiday never has to end.

TWO CAN PLAY by Alie Hazelwood

Audiofile Review: “In this contemporary romance narrated by Kelsey Navarro Foster, professional rivals from two video-game companies must find common ground during a team-building retreat. Viola has no idea why Jesse dislikes her so much, but his past treatment of her has made the feeling mutual. When they must spend several wintry days together at a mountain lodge, she soon realizes that she has been mistaken. Foster’s expressive delivery keeps listeners invested in Viola and Jesse’s evolving relationship, audibly illustrating Viola’s change from hating Jesse to realizing the misunderstanding between them and deciding to begin a relationship. Though secondary characters without defined characteristics are given generic voices that differ only with respect to gender, Foster’s overall performance of this short romance is entertaining.”

CHAOS TERMINAL: The Midsolar Murders, Book 2

Audiofile Review: “Kelsey Navarro Foster narrates a science-fiction/mystery mash-up. Mallory Viridian is reluctantly left in charge of Station Eternity just before a new group of humans is due to arrive. Soon, things go haywire as several murders take place. Foster captures Mallory’s anxieties–will the new humans cause more murders to take place and can she handle being left in charge, not to mention her worries about the station itself. As the various situations spin out of control, Mallory and each of her friends deal with it in a different way, giving Foster the opportunity to show her range. While the plot is occasionally overly complex, Foster’s clear narration aids listeners in following the details.”

YOU CAN TRUST ME by Wendy Heard

Audiofile Review: “Twisty and fast paced, this engaging listen tells a story of survival, trust, and friendship. Summer and Leo are grifters–soul sisters who are traveling the California coast in Summer’s Land Cruiser. Both have complicated, heartbreaking pasts, and Summer “mentors” Leo as the women survive through a mix of recklessness, con artistry, and determination. When Leo, voiced by Kelsey Navarro Foster, sets her sights on multimillionaire Michael Forrester, it could represent their biggest “get” and keep the women above water. Foster captures Leo’s mix of naïveté, impulsiveness, and resilience. …With plenty of surprises, this audiobook is a compelling listen”

SUMMER READING by Jenn McKinlay

Audiofile Review: “Kelsey Navarro Foster depicts the romance between chef Samantha Gale and librarian Bennett Reynolds on picturesque Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Samantha is caring for her teenage half-brother for the summer while their parents are away when she meets Bennett. Samantha has dyslexia, and Ben loves books, so that poses some turmoil for Samantha. Foster highlights this disparity with her performance. Samantha’s brother, Tyler, is full of teenage angst but as the summer progresses, the two grow closer. Foster changes Tyler’s sullen tone as their relationship transforms, bringing more warmth to his voice. As Ben comes to understand Samantha’s dyslexia, Foster adds a deeper and caring quality to his dialogue. Listeners will be entertained by this story.”

Featured episode of Audiofile’s Behind the MicOn Good Boy by Jennifer Finney Boylan, Read by Kelsey Navarro – What If We Told the Story of Our Lives in Tales of Dogs We Loved? “Kelsey Navarro narrates with warmth and highlights the author’s wry humor…”

Audiofile Review: “…While capable of high theatricality, Navarro here employs the voice of a woman more amused than outraged. Adoration may be mysterious, but Navarro’s quiet performance generates that precious nectar, and plenty of it.”

Marriage on Madison Avenue” listed #4 in Oprah Magazine’s 21 of 2020’s Most Anticipated Romance Novels!

Audiofile Review: “Navarro is exuberant as Audrey, squealing with excitement over frilly wedding details and striking a self-assured, flirty tone as an Instagram influencer. … For Audrey’s two friends, Navarro provides distinctly different tones, showcasing the female trio’s different personalities.”
